Frequently Asked Questions
What can I encode in a QR code?
QR codes can encode URLs, plain text, phone numbers, email addresses, WiFi credentials, vCards (contact information), SMS messages, calendar events, and more. The maximum capacity is about 4,296 alphanumeric characters or 7,089 numeric characters.
How do I create a QR code for WiFi?
Use the WiFi template button or enter the format: WIFI:T:WPA;S:YourNetworkName;P:YourPassword;; Replace WPA with WEP or leave T empty for open networks. When scanned, the phone will automatically offer to connect to the WiFi network.
What size should my QR code be for printing?
For most print materials, generate QR codes at 512-1024 pixels. The minimum printed size should be 2x2 cm (0.8x0.8 inches) for reliable scanning. For billboards or distance scanning, increase size proportionally - typically 1/10th of the expected scanning distance.
Can I customize the colors of my QR code?
Yes! You can change both the QR code color and background color. However, ensure sufficient contrast between foreground and background for reliable scanning. Dark patterns on light backgrounds work best. Avoid using similar colors that reduce contrast.
Will my QR code expire?
Static QR codes (like those generated here) never expire - they encode data directly. However, if your QR code links to a URL, the destination website must remain active. QR codes with dynamic URLs (from paid services) can be updated but may have expiration dates.
